Ukrainian National Cuisine

food UkraineUkrainians eat with pleasure not only the national meals but also the meals of another countries cuisine. But Ukrainian meals are the most traditional ones and every house-wife can cook the following meals:

"Borsch" - something like soup made of the components: meat, potatoes, beats, cabbage, tomato sauce, sometimes beans. In spite of the same components, every house-wife has borsch of the special taste.

"Vareniki" - dumplings (with curd, meat, potatoes, cherries etc), boiled in water or steamed-made. Served usually with sour-cream. (One can get them at the food shops in great variety as semi-finished products)

"Pampushk"- small rolls, served with garlic sauce.

"Galushki"- pastry rolls, cooked and served with soup.

"Golubtsy"- rissole rolled in cabbage-leaves and cooked in sour-cream or tomato sauce.
